Faculty of Biomedical Engineering NTUU "KPI" - Courses description

1) Software development process

The main goal of the course is studying of basic concepts and methods of software development using software engineering and supporting tools.

Main topics of course:

  • the systems development life cycle in systems engineering, information systems and software engineering and the models and methodologies to develop these systems;
  • software engineering;
  • UML diagrams;
  • software integration and testing;
  • software development using NI LabVIEW;
  • hardware-software solutions using NI technologies.
2) Life Support Systems

The main topics are:

  • Artificial Heart Valves;
  • Artificial Heart and Cardiac Assist Devices;
  • Cardiac Pacemakers;
  • Dialysis;
  • Heart-Lung Machine and Extrakorporeal Cyrculation;
  • ECMO.
3) Fundamentals of Biomedical Engineering

The main topics are short introduction in:

  • The Gastrointestinal System;

  • Basic Electrophysiology;

  • Principles of Electrocardiography;
  • Principles of Electromyography;
  • Principles of Electroencephalography;

  • Mechanics of Blood Vessels;

4) System Modelling

The aim of the course is studying the basic methods of modeling systems. Describe questions of systems mathematical statistical modeling methods and the results interpretation and possibilities of applying mathematical statistic methods for definition patterns and regularities in biomedical data arrays (cluster analysis etc.).

5) Mathematical methods of operation exploring

The main aim of the course is studying the methods of development and application of methods for finding optimal solutions using mathematical and statistical modeling.

6) Basic knowledge in Synergetic

The main aim of the course is studying general patterns of self-organization and formation of sustainable structures in different open systems.
