The Faculty of Biomedical Engineering (FBME) of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute has joined the implementation of the international project “Occupational therapy without Borders”.
Together with the Charitable Foundation “KOLO” and the Swedish organization Beredskapslyftet, the FBME team will work on the development of occupational therapy in Ukraine, the training of specialists and the implementation of European approaches in rehabilitation.
The project is implemented with the support of the Swedish Institute (Svenska institutet), which provided about 2 million Swedish kronor for its implementation.
Together with the FBME partners, the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute will:
- adapt international clinical tools of occupational therapy for Ukraine;
- create new educational modules and professional development programs;
- conduct international trainings, workshops and professional exchanges;
- develop cooperation between universities, medical institutions and professional communities.
The issue of rehabilitation is extremely important for Ukraine today. Occupational therapy helps people return to daily life, work, and social activity after injuries and trauma.
For the KPI, participation in the project is a contribution to the formation of a modern system of training occupational therapists in Ukraine and strengthening international cooperation in the field of education and medicine.
The project will last until June 2027 and will cover educational, scientific, and practical areas.
