A group of lecturers from the Department of Biosafety and Human Health carried out a study visit to Stockholm (Sweden) from April 20 to April 24, 2026, within the framework of the international project
“Occupational Therapy Without Borders: Swedish-Ukrainian Professional Exchange for Sustainable Rehabilitation Development in Ukraine (CURIOUS)”.
The host organization was Beredskapslyftet (Sweden), which ensured a high level of organization of the internship and provided access to leading clinical and educational platforms.
Purpose of the visit
The program was aimed at:
- familiarization with the modern occupational therapy system in Sweden
- studying interdisciplinary approaches in rehabilitation
- mastering international assessment models (including MOHOST)
- improving the qualifications of academic staff and developing international cooperation
Main areas of the internship
During the visit, the following key aspects were covered:
- organization of rehabilitation care in Sweden
- modern approaches to occupational therapy
- clinical practice in neurological and physical rehabilitation
- patient-centered approach and personalized care
Leading institutions and partners
Participants had the opportunity to gain experience from leading institutions:
- Karolinska Institutet (KI) – one of the leading medical universities in Europe
- Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Danderyd Hospital – university rehabilitation clinic
- Stockholms Sjukhem – center for primary and specialized rehabilitation
- Sophiahemmet Sjukhus – multidisciplinary medical and educational center
- Aleris (Spinalis) – specialized rehabilitation (including spinal injuries)
- Independent Living Institute (ILI) – promoting independent living for persons with disabilities
