The EU RIFF project – Research Infrastructures for the Future of Ukraine

The RIFF project will facilitate an upgrade of R&I system in Ukraine by offering a fresh and forward-looking perspective on the Ukrainian research infrastructures RIs. RIFF will deliver “Roadmap for Recovery and Enhancement of RIs in Ukraine” based on the experience of the EU countries.

Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences Oleksandr Galkin took part in a training for representatives of Ukrainian research institutions within the framework of the RIFF project, which took place on April 20-24, 2026 in the Czech Republic and was organized by the Masaryk University, Brno.

The training covered the following key clusters:

  • Health and Nutrition (Biomedicine);
  • Environmental Sciences;
  • Physics and Engineering;
  • Social Sciences and Humanities.

During the training sessions, the following research consortia were visited and the experience was learned, among others:

  • RECETOX Research Infrastructure (environmental science and public health);
  • EIRENE – European infrastructure for human exposome;
  • CEITEC – Central European Institute of Technology (Centers for Structural Biology, Molecular Medicine, Neuroscience, Mendel Centre for Plant Genomics and Proteomics);
  • CEITEC Nano Research Infrastructure (nanotechnology and advanced materials);
  • CZECRIN – Czech Clinical Research Infrastructure Network;
  • Czech Semiconductor Centre;
  • CzechGlobe – The Global Change Research Institute;
  • ELI Beamlines Laser Facility.
