OPEN LECTURE BY DR. ANTONIS EKIZOS

On June 2, 2026, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute hosted an open lecture by Dr. Antonis Ekizos, Assistant Professor Section of Sport Medicine & Exercise Biology, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece), on the topic: “Control priorities in human locomotion: stability, economy, and implications for assistive devices”.

During the lecture, participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with modern scientific approaches to the study of human locomotion, mechanisms for ensuring stability and energy efficiency of movement, processes of motor learning and adaptation, as well as innovative solutions in the field of assistive devices and prosthetics (engineering, information and rehabilitation technologies).

The presented interdisciplinary approaches were useful and caused an active discussion among students, postgraduates and teachers – biomedical engineers, cybernetics, biologists and rehabilitation specialists.

Taking this opportunity, the distinguished guest was shown the educational and scientific infrastructure of the prosthetics laboratory, medical rehabilitation and occupational therapy, and the biomaterials laboratory, and negotiations were held on joint scientific and educational projects in the field of biomedical engineering and technologies.

We sincerely thank Dr. Antonis Ekizos for an interesting and informative lecture, and all participants for their activity, interest, and dedication to learning even in today’s difficult conditions.
