Online Presentation “Stethophone” for Biomedical Cybernetics and Biomedical Engineering Students and Professionals

On December 26, 2025, an online presentation of the medical digital solution – the AI-assisted digital stethoscope Stethophone – was held for students, faculty members, and all those interested in biomedical engineering, biomedical cybernetics, and digital health.

The main speaker of the event was Olena Chernenko, Founder & CEO of Healthcare Consulting Agency (mcg.com.ua), who presented the case of a successful medical startup and shared insights into the development, regulatory pathway, and scaling of an innovative digital medical device.
A practicing physician also took part in the event, presenting real-world clinical experience in the use of digital auscultation.

About the Technology

Stethophone is an AI-assisted digital stethoscope in the form of a mobile application that:

  • has received two FDA clearances (USA);
  • holds a Health Canada license;
  • is certified in Ukraine as a medical device;
  • has over 30,000 users, a significant proportion of whom are healthcare professionals.

Key Advantages

  • Fast and easy to use, with no additional hardware required;
  • High-quality sound enabled by patented filters that separate high and low frequencies, providing sound quality superior to traditional stethoscopes;
  • Ability to create and maintain patient auscultation data archives;
  • Development of custom educational sound libraries for teaching and research;
  • Enables patients to record heart and lung sounds and share them with their physician, including at the moment symptoms occur.

The application currently works on iPhone 6s and newer models. An Android release is expected soon.

Educational and Practical Focus

During the session, participants discussed:

  • the role of digital auscultation in modern healthcare;
  • applications of AI-based tools in medical education and research;
  • prospects for using digital auscultation in cardiology, telemedicine, and primary care;
  • pathways for building a medical startup and commercializing healthcare innovations.

The event attracted strong interest and highlighted the growing importance of digital auscultation as a practical and accessible component of digital transformation in healthcare and medical education.
