The intensive online course “Fundamentals of Public Health Analytics”, jointly created by the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and See Forward Ukraine Inc. (USA), was successfully completed in September–December 2025.
The three-month course brought together 29 participants, including learners of different levels and faculty members, demonstrating strong interest within the academic community in public health data analytics and epidemiology.
The program covered key topics in public health analytics, including data collection methods, research design, descriptive statistics, probability, and basic statistical analysis. The course was delivered online through lectures and weekly assignments, with selected concepts demonstrated using R.
A distinctive feature of the course was its emphasis on context and responsibility in data interpretation. A central message throughout the training was that epidemiological data are not just numbers, but people, and that analytical work in public health requires ethical awareness, critical thinking, and sensitivity to context.
The course was instructed by Natasha Dukach (M.S., Boston University School of Public Health, Population Health Research and Epidemiology, USA).
The Faculty of Biomedical Engineering expresses sincere gratitude to Natasha Dukach for the depth, clarity, and human-centered approach of the course, as well as for the high quality and engaging delivery of the material. This course stands as a strong example of how public health analytics begins with respect for people and responsible use of data in education, research, and decision-making.
