On September 11, 2024, the Department of Translational Medical Bioengineering hosted an open online lecture by Docent Olena GOLEMBIOVSKA from the discipline “Applied Biochemistry and Biomaterials. Part 1. Analytical biochemistry and instrumental methods of analysis. The lecture, which was held on the Zoom platform, was devoted to the topic: “Standards for performing bioanalytical studies, basic concepts of “good laboratory practice” (GLP). Planning and conducting the experiment. Research using cell lines, laboratory animals”.
This lecture was part of the curriculum for second-year undergraduate students studying Biomedical Engineering. Olena GOLEMBIOVSKA revealed the key aspects of international GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards used in modern scientific research around the world. Special attention was paid to issues of ethics and responsibility when conducting experiments involving the use of cell lines and laboratory animals.
The lecture was attended by 13 out of 21 registered students who actively participated in the discussion. The way the teacher conveyed complex scientific material in an accessible and understandable form, which aroused the interest of students, deserves special attention.
Such events are important both for students and for the wider scientific community, as they not only introduce current standards in the field of biomedical research, but also foster a responsible attitude to scientific work. This is one of the steps of the TMB department in training qualified specialists capable of working according to the highest international standards in the field of bioengineering and biotechnology.
