The Faculty of Biomedical Engineering (FBME) welcomed the new 2026/27 academic year with a series of renovations at the building located at 16/2 Academician Yangel Str. The need to refurbish our main building stemmed from the legacy of the former student polyclinic, which was located in this building until 2020, as well as the consequences of the enemy shelling of building 24, where the teaching laboratories of the Department of Biosafety and Human Health were located.
The FBME team extends its sincere gratitude to the university administration and the GUTEmission foundation (Berlin, Germany) https://www.facebook.com/GUTEmission/ for their financial support of our building’s renovation plan. Special thanks go to the FBME Student Council for the design concepts used to decorate the lobby.
Over the summer of 2026, we successfully:
• renovated the building’s lobby, installing new doors on the second floor and modernizing the space’s design;
• relocated and fitted out the technical rehabilitation aids room, moving it from the shell-damaged Building 24 to the facility at 16/2 Academician Yangel Str.
Now, our students, faculty, staff, and guests can enjoy these new spaces and, if necessary, work on their health in the rehabilitation room!
